Battery Monitoring

May ’20: Installed 2x100Ah 12v TN Power LiFePO4 batteries.

Checking the resting voltage and the charging current/voltage doesn’t cut the mustard for these batteries, so I created a monitoring system for the batteries (and the solar controller).

The MPPT is an Epever XTRA4150.

The V/Wh/A and shunts are Peacefair PZEM017’s with (300A shunts), and the wifi stations are Elfin EW11’s. Both are available online from EBay/Alibaba etc.

There are two EW11’s because although the PZEM’s and Epever both talk MODBUS over RS485, they have different baud rates which aren’t changeable.

The difference between theory and practice….
